Taking advantages of the unique properties of graphene nanomaterials, the present thesis reported three functionalized graphene-based novel antibacterial nanocomposites i.e. Silver/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) hydrogel, carbon dots/titanium dioxide /rGO nanocomposites, and titanium dioxide /rGO/tungsten trioxide nanocomposites. With tailor-made antibacterial properties and tunable structures, these nanocomposites were applied for fit-for-purpose water disinfection (either gravity–drive filtration or solar photocatalysis), without external energy consumption. We believed our results provided new hints to design and apply graphene-based nanocomposites for energy-efficient water disinfection.
