Central neural control pathways directed to brown, white, and transformed "Beige" fat WIEDMANNNICOLE MAREE 2017 The functional recruitment of brown and inducible “beige” fat is, primarily dependent on an intact sympathetic neural input, with little insight into the neural control of beige adipose tissue. Here we demonstrate that after induction of beige adipocytes in white fat after cold exposure there is a functional reorganisation of supraspinal pathways. Furthermore, the neurochemical profile of sympathetic ganglia projecting to beige fat becomes more alike the profile of those projecting to brown fat. The findings of this thesis significantly build upon our understanding of the neuroanatomical and neurochemical blueprint of pathways directed to brown, white, and transformed beige fat.
