Current therapeutic approaches are known to have serious side effects; therefore research into alternative strategies such as from natural resources is necessary. This present study was able to identify selected proteins with anti-cancer activities from the venom of Calloselasma rhodostoma and Cryptelytrops purpureomaculatus. The proteins demonstrated selective cytotoxic activity and induction of apoptosis in human colon cancer cells. These data provides evidence on the anti-cancer activity of several proteins from the venom of Malaysian pit vipers for therapeutic intervention of human colon cancer.
