MEDLAND, NICHOLAS ANDREW Studies in the epidemiology of HIV infection and its treatment in the era of universal treatment recommendations and treatment as prevention. This thesis consists of six individual studies which were conducted at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre (MSHC) in the three and one half years following that announcement and represent a body of work addressing: how the HIV care cascade is used to track treatment coverage; the delay between HIV diagnosis and treatment initiation; the delay between HIV infection and viral suppression; morbidity amongst people living with HIV in the universal treatment era; and recent changes in HIV incidence.
