GHAZI, LADAN Assessing effective treatments for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and exploring the relationships between OSA severity, eating behaviour and anxiety/depression in newly diagnosed adults with OSA Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a common sleep-related breathing disorder and is associated with health-threatening conditions including cardiovascular disease, anxiety, and depression. Considering that OSA and obesity are strongly linked, we sought to a) clarify which of the lifestyle changes is the most effective intervention in adults with OSA; and b) explore the underlying factors or mechanisms attributing to the link between OSA and obesity. Our results suggest that diet-based interventions (with or without exercise) are effective for improving OSA. Also, no strong relationships were found between OSA severity, age, gender, eating behaviour, and levels of anxiety and depression.
