Existing studies have concluded that the ASI’s influence was part of a larger collective that challenged the wisdom of the post-war consensus. This thesis seeks to examine an overlooked aspect of the ASI – its strategies. It will argue that in mapping the evolution of the ASI’s strategies over the past forty years, new conclusions can be drawn about its individual contribution to British political life, namely, its importation of a new think tank model from the US.
