Ideas Are Not Enough: The Strategies of the Adam Smith Institute (1977-2016) KESHIA SORAYA JACOTINE 10.26180/5b4ee85b47e0a https://bridges.monash.edu/articles/thesis/Ideas_Are_Not_Enough_The_Strategies_of_the_Adam_Smith_Institute_1977-2016_/6833273 The Adam Smith Institute is a British think tank that is known for its aggressive advocacy of neoliberalism and links to Margaret Thatcher. Existing studies have concluded that the ASI’s influence was part of a larger collective that challenged the wisdom of the post-war consensus. This thesis seeks to examine an overlooked aspect of the ASI – its strategies. It will argue that in mapping the evolution of the ASI’s strategies over the past forty years, new conclusions can be drawn about its individual contribution to British political life, namely, its importation of a new think tank model from the US. 2018-07-18 07:12:25 Think Tanks Thatcherism Neoliberalism British Politics Political History Political Economy Adam Smith Institute Political Science not elsewhere classified Public Policy History
