The mechanism by which babesia parasites cause disease is poorly understood. This thesis set out to identify and characterise novel parasite proteins that are involved in the pathogenesis of bovine babesiosis to obtain a better understanding of how these parasites cause severe disease and to identify new targets for future next generation vaccines.
