This study investigated the self-sensing behaviour of engineered cementitious composites (ECCs) for cracking development monitoring, supported by innovative technologies, e.g. discrete element method (DEM) and artificial neural network (ANN). These approaches helped to understand both mechanical and electrical properties of ECCs so as to optimise the design ECCs. A probabilistic imaging based electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) method was applied for crack detection and monitoring for ECCs.
