This thesis presents studies aimed at improving ambulance effectiveness. The equipment power problem and fuel efficiency needs were investigated to explore the adoption of Hybrid Electric technology. We also studied the impact of disrupters on travel wherein analytical relations were developed using VISSIM simulation data. The travel of a similar size vehicle was recorded using a drone in order to obtain speed profiles to affirm the predicted deceleration and acceleration features in the influence zone when encountering speed bumps or disruptions. Finally, we developed and tested a system that simulates conditions during ambulance transport to train paramedics for en-route venipuncture.
