Saline water influence on water productivity, soil salinity and economics of bitter-gourd (Momordica charantia l) using drip irrigation method. SoomroKamran 2019 Freshwater scarcity is a major concern with increasing population and has forced farmers to explore the opportunity of using saline water for agriculture. The aim of the research is to evaluate the effects of saline water on water productivity (WP) of bitter-gourd using drip irrigation method. Field experiments were carried out in different cropping seasons by using two irrigation treatments including freshwater (IT1) having electrical conductivity (EC) 0.56 deciSiemens per meter (dS.m-1) and saline water (IT2) with EC 2.56 dS.m-1) at the semi-arid region in Pakistan. Using AquaCrop model for WP, the model consistently overestimated the WP and the deviations ranged from 6.1 to 9.9% and 5.4 to 8.0% under IT1 and IT2 respectively. Drip irrigation has been found to be an efficient and economically feasible technology for bitter-gourd under saline environment.
