App-Adjunctive Therapy: Psychologist and Adolescent Experiences
thesis
posted on 2019-11-01, 03:53 authored by SIMONE KATHERINE GINDIDISApps are promising tools for delivery of mental health services to adolescents. Both adolescent client and psychologist perspectives of therapeutic app use were explored in this thesis to provide a foundation for future research. Opportunities for the development of a novel area of professional competence were proposed based on study findings, alongside preliminary practice guidelines for the complementary use of apps. The thesis advances understanding of means for youth-friendly mental health care by identifying avenues for further study, service improvement, and ways apps may be used to positively impact the state of youth mental health in Australia.
