Elevated impulsivity is associated with numerous negative outcomes and clinical disorders. This thesis develops novel testing methods for use in assessing impulsivity, identifies cognitive processes associated with impulsive behaviour, and examines the relationship between different types of impulsivity and social network site use. It shows that current tasks used to measure impulsivity do not conform to a clear theoretical structure and that unique types of impulsivity are risk factors for developing problematic social networking use.
