Durability of HDPE Geomembranes to Leachates of Extreme Chemistry

thesis
posted on 2018-04-23, 23:33 authored by LU ZHANG
The chemical compatibility of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembranes (GMBs) and their seams to mining leachates have come under increased scrutiny due to their increasing use in mining applications. This research has been undertaken to gain a better understanding of the durability of these GMBs and their field seams when exposed to leachates of extreme chemistry, as often occurs in mining applications, with a particular focus on the change of their physical, chemical and mechanical properties.
