This thesis examines the transmission of gonorrhoea between sexual partners, particularly to investigate whether gonorrhoea of the throat transmits to sexual partners through oral sex and tongue kissing. The thesis then examines the transmission of chlamydia, to see if this is different from gonorrhoea. The findings in this thesis highlight the need for new strategies to prevent throat gonorrhoea.
