thesis
posted on 2018-09-24, 03:51 authored by KATHLEEN ELIZABETH RYAN
This thesis is a mixed methods evaluation of a peer-led rapid point-of-care HIV testing service in Melbourne, Australia. This work showed that the service attracted gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men reporting high risk for HIV acquisition, increased access to testing and was highly acceptable. Evaluation of service changes showed significant increases in test frequency over time. Changes to data collection improved data quality, accuracy and facilitated improved reporting. The findings of this thesis have directly influenced HIV testing service delivery in Australia.
