The postpartum period for many mothers is associated with physical and mental challenges. This mixed methods study explored physical and emotional problems among a sample of Saudi Arabian women at four to ten weeks postpartum. The results showed high prevalence of physical and emotional health issues that were influenced by cultural, psychosocial and obstetric factors. This study makes an important contribution to greater understanding of the health needs of Saudi childbearing women. It will inform the delivery of culturally sensitive care and improve the birth experience for Saudi women.
