Investigating the Utility of Lipid-Based Formulations for Ionic Liquid Drug Delivery

This thesis explores the potential for alternate salt forms of drugs to improve drug loading in lipid formulations used in capsules. The composition of the lipid formulation plays a key role in the bioavailability of the alternate salt form of the drug. Additionally, a larger, bulkier counter-ion that is paired with a drug will increase drug loading in lipid formulations. These alternate salt forms of drugs have higher drug loading in lipid formulations than the traditional salt forms and provide a potential means to increase the dose for some medications.
