Metal phosphate based protective conversion coating for Mg alloys

thesis
posted on 2017-05-02, 02:02 authored by CHONG KE
In this project, a strontium phosphate (SrP) conversion coating process with pretreatment steps to remove the surface heterogeneity and a ‘steam coating’ process, which requires no pretreatment steps have been studied systematically. Both techniques have been proved to provide satisfactory protection against corrosion to Mg substrates. Apart from the techniques developed in this project, the formation mechanisms of different coatings were studied, which are critical for the future development of protective coatings on Mg alloys..
