Population growth and environmental quality: are they compatible?
journal contribution
posted on 2017-05-05, 04:04 authored by Hamilton, CliveThere is no correlation between a nation’s population growth and its rate of economic growth. Population growth will not make us richer in economic terms and it will almost certainly make us poorer in terms of environmental amenity. This paper examines the effect of Australia’s population growth on greenhouse gas emissions and on the integrity of coastal ecosystems.
