Seigniorage Currency and Cash

This paper explores the nature and genesis of seigniorage in the Australian Institutional setting. The topic has been explored broadly and in pedagogical fashion in order to introduce the range of associated issues which emerged as the paper progressed. An attempt has been made to make a clear dichotomy between cash and currency to avoid the confusion which follows from a common practice of using the terms interchangeably.
