Subtlety

thesis
posted on 2017-09-11, 00:24 authored by Rosina Prestia
This exegesis contemplates the subtle decisions an artist makes in regards to the female body and female subjectivity. I work within a feminist sculptural and performative discipline. I posit there are parameters in which live performance, documentation and sculptural representation of women can contribute to a feminist discourse. The exegesis follows the development of two studio projects concerning an individual’s capacity to change; one is a textual painting project where the viewer’s eyes must adjust to the light in the image. The second ongoing social project where I invite people by word of mouth and emails to receive a forearm massage. The exegesis discusses my two projects alongside local feminist art projects in Australia.
