Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability globally. A third of people who have experienced stroke are left with a permanent disability, thus, it is imperative to investigate and understand the lived experiences of stroke from the perspective of the survivor. This study aims to expand on the experience of being a stroke survivor. The study employed an ethnographic approach to investigating the experiences of stroke survivors in rural Peninsular Malaysia. The study highlights the contextual complexity of life with stroke and offers a robust and effective public health strategy for the management of stroke.
